We take more photographs than any generation in history, and learn so little about the context or history of the subject. In the Louvre, crowds jostle for the best shot of the Mona Lisa and move on, never pausing to understand who painted it, or what the experience was actually about.

A Day to Remember is about taking the time to gather images, information, and context about a day or moment you want to return to again and again.

Over years of travel and daily life, I developed a system for encoding memories with images and triggers that bring the whole experience back in a flash. Paintings, drawings, sketches, written context, the weather, the date, the history of a place, what made it worth remembering. I work from my own photographs, using them as reference to create sketchbook pages that bring memories back to the surface every time I leaf through them.
